Delicious Tuna Noodle Casserole

Ingredients

  • Butter
  • Salt
  • Flat Egg Noodles
  • Scallions
  • Flour
  • Dry Mustard
  • Milk
  • Fresh Ground Black Pepper
  • Tuna In Vegetable Oil
  • Fresh Breadcrumbs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
  2. Rub inside of a 2 1 / 2 quart casserole dish with 1 tablespoons butter
  3. Bring large pot of salted water to boil over high heat
  4. Add noodles and cook until al dente, 5-7 minutes
  5. Drain and transfer noodles to a large bowl
  6. Melt 4 tablespoons butter in a medium saucepan over medium-high heat
  7. Add half the scallions and cook until softened, 1-2 minutes
  8. Add flour and mustard and cook, stirring frequently, for 1 minutes
  9. Gradually pour in milk, whisking constantly, and bring to a boil
  10. Cook sauce, stirring frequently, until smooth and thickened, 16-18 minutes
  11. Season with salt and pepper to taste
  12. Transfer sauce to bowl with noodles
  13. Add tuna and stir gently to combine
  14. Transfer tuna-noodle mixture to prepared dish
  15. Melt remaining butter and toss with remaining scallions, bread crumbs, and salt and pepper to taste in a bowl
  16. Scatter seasoned bread crumbs over tuna-noodle mixture and bake until golden brown and bubbling, 20-25 minutes
  17. Let casserole cool slightly before serving
