Kielbasa Pasta And Cheddar Bake

Ingredients

  • Rigatoni Pasta
  • Olive Oil
  • Onion
  • All-purpose Flour
  • Milk
  • Extra-sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • Hot Pepper Sauce
  • Salt
  • Kielbasa
  • Fuji Apples
  • Scallions

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit
  2. Coat a 10-cup baking dish with non-stick cooking spray
  3. In large pot of lightly salted boiling water, cook rigatoni until al dente, firm but tender, following package instructions
  4. Drain
  5. In large heavy-bottom saucepan, heat olive oil over medium-high heat
  6. Add onion and cook until softened, 5 to 7 minutes
  7. Stir in flour, cook 1 minute
  8. Gradually whisk in milk
  9. Bring to boil, stirring continuously
  10. Boil until thickened, about 1 minute
  11. Remove from heat
  12. Set aside 1 cup of cheese for topping casserole
  13. Whisk remaining 2 cups cheese, hot-pepper sauce, and salt into mixture
  14. In pasta pot, combine rigatoni, cheese sauce, kielbasa and apples into baking dish
  15. Cover
  16. Bake covered for 30 minutes
  17. Uncover and stir
  18. Sprinkle with 1 cup remaining cheese and scallions
  19. Bake until cheese is melted, about 10 minutes
  20. Let stand 10 minutes
  21. Serve
