Ingredients

  • Italian Sausages
  • Reduced-sodium Chicken Broth
  • Onion
  • Olive Oil
  • Sweet Red Pepper
  • Garlic Clove
  • Pepper
  • Balsamic Vinegar
  • Italian Rolls
  • Pizza Sauce
  • Provolone Cheese

Instructions

  1. In a small nonstick skillet, brown sausages on all sides over medium heat
  2. Add broth
  3. Cover and simmer for 10 minutes
  4. Remove sausages and keep warm
  5. Discard broth
  6. In the same pan, saute onion in oil until crisp-tender
  7. Add red pepper and cook until crisp-tender
  8. Add vinegar and sausages and heat through
  9. Carefully split buns / rolls making sure not to cut all the way through
  10. You want them to open like a hot dog bun
  11. Spread buns / rolls with pizza sauce
  12. Top with sausage, cheese, and onion mixture
  13. Broil 4 to 6 inches from heat for 2 to 3 minutes or until cheese is melted
  14. Be careful not to burn the rolls / buns
  15. Prep time includes cooking time
