Italian Pot Roast

Ingredients

  • Chuck Roast
  • Water
  • Beef Base
  • Bay Leaves
  • Dried Basil Leaves
  • Dried Oregano Leaves
  • Salt
  • Dried Red Pepper
  • Garlic Powder

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large dutch oven over medium heat and brown roast on all sides
  2. Combine water and remaining ingredients, mixing well
  3. Pour over roast
  4. Bring to a boil
  5. Cover and reduce heat
  6. Simmer for 3 hours or until tender
  7. Let cool slightly
  8. Cover and chill
  9. Remove roast from broth
  10. Cut into very thin slices
  11. Return meat to broth
  12. Cook over medium heat until thoroughly heated
  13. Remove bay leaves and serve
