Garlic and fresh herbs flavor this orzo/rice combination pilaf. Vegetable broth may be used for chicken broth.

Ingredients

  • Olive Oil
  • Garlic Cloves
  • Orzo Pasta
  • Long Grain Rice
  • Reduced-sodium Chicken Broth
  • Water
  • Green Onions
  • Fresh Basil Leaf
  • Fresh Italian Parsley
  • Salt

Instructions

  1. In a large nonstick skillet heat oil over medium-high
  2. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute, being careful not to burn
  3. Add orzo and rice
  4. Cook 4-6 minutes longer or until lightly browned
  5. Stir in broth and water
  6. Bring to a boil
  7. Reduce heat
  8. Cover and simmer for 15-20 minutes, until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed
  9. Stir in the onions, basil, parsley and salt
  10. Serve
  11. Sprinkle some grated parmesan on top if desired
