This is a pillsbury bake-off winner recipe from betty marx brooklyn park, minnesota 38th bake-off contest, 1998

Ingredients

  • Butter
  • French Vanilla Cake Mix
  • Egg
  • Quick-cooking Rolled Oats
  • Coconut Pecan Frosting
  • Semi-sweet Chocolate Chips
  • Pecans

Instructions

  1. Heat oven to 350f
  2. Spray 15×10-inch baking pan with nonstick cooking spray
  3. Place melted butter in large bowl
  4. Reserve 3 tablespoons of the cake mix
  5. Set aside
  6. Add remaining cake mix to butter
  7. Blend well
  8. Add egg
  9. Mix well
  10. Stir in oats
  11. Press 2 / 3 of cake mix mixture in bottom of sprayed pan
  12. Place frosting in medium microwave-safe bowl
  13. Microwave on high for 1 minute
  14. Add reserved 3 tablespoons cake mix
  15. Stir until large lumps disappear
  16. Drizzle half of frosting mixture over cake mix mixture in pan
  17. Spread evenly
  18. Sprinkle with chocolate chips and pecans
  19. Drizzle with remaining frosting mixture
  20. Crumble remaining cake mix mixture over frosting mixture
  21. Bake at 350f for 25 to 30 minutes or until top is golden brown and edges are bubbly
  22. Cool 1 1 / 2 hours or until completely cooled
  23. Cut into bars
  24. High altitude instructions: no change
