Dr Pepper Pork Roast

Ingredients

  • Onions
  • Canola Oil
  • Pork Loin Roast
  • Salt And Pepper
  • Cloves
  • Cinnamon Sticks
  • Bay Leaf
  • Dr. Pepper Cola
  • Dried Apricot Halves
  • Prunes

Instructions

  1. Place sliced onions in a slow cooker
  2. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat
  3. Season pork roast with salt and pepper, then brown on all sides
  4. Place browned roast in slow cooker on top of sliced onions
  5. Add cloves, cinnamon stick and bay leaf to cooker
  6. Pour can of dr
  7. Pepper over roast and top with dried fruit
  8. Cover and cook 3 to 4 hours on high-heat setting for 8 to 9 hours or until thermometer inserted into center of roast reads 160f
  9. Remove roast from slow cooker and let rest 5 to 10 minutes
  10. Meanwhile, using a slotted spoon, remove onion, fruit and spices
  11. Discard whole spices
  12. Skim grease from sauce
  13. Slice roast and serve topped with onions and fruit and a little sauce
  14. Serving idea: serve over garlic mashed potatoes
