Crock Pot Smothered Pork Chops

There's a little bit of preparation involved, but the results are well worth it.

Ingredients

  • Boneless Pork Chops
  • Canola Oil
  • Onions
  • White Wine
  • Dried Savory
  • Dried Thyme
  • Garlic Clove
  • Mushrooms
  • Bay Leaf
  • Brown Gravy Mix
  • Water
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Paprika

Instructions

  1. Sprinkle chops with salt, pepper, and paprika
  2. Heat oil in a heavy skillet over medium heat
  3. Lightly brown chops and set aside
  4. Add wine to the skillet and deglaze, scraping the skillet to remove any bits
  5. Turn off heat
  6. Prepare the gravy mix according the the package directions and set aside
  7. Place one layer of onions in the bottom of the crock pot
  8. Place 3 pork chops over the onions
  9. Place 1 / 2 of the mushrooms over the pork chops
  10. Sprinkle with 1 / 2 of the thyme and savory
  11. Add another layer of onions
  12. Layer the remaining pork chops and sprinkle them with the remaining thyme, savory, and garlic
  13. Place bay leaf on top
  14. Place the remaining mushrooms on top of that
  15. Cover with a layer of remaining onion slices
  16. Pour the wine that was used to deglaze the pan over the top
  17. Pour the brown gravy over that
  18. Cook for 3 1 / 2 hours on high or 6-7 hours on low
  19. Delicious served with mashed potatoes
