Isn't funny how we can take something perfectly healthy….and make it totally fattening?!! I've made green beans this way since….well, more than 20 years now, and wouldn't have them any other way! Very flavorful, comfort food at its very best! Cooking time includes crock pot time.

Ingredients

  • Green Beans
  • Bacon
  • Pepper
  • Onion
  • Butter
  • Dark Brown Sugar
  • Balsamic Vinegar
  • Salt And Pepper
  • Pan Drippings

Instructions

  1. Fry bacon in pan til done sprinkling both sides as it cooks with coarse ground pepper
  2. Drain on paper towels, set aside
  3. Add half a stick of butter to bacon grease,
  4. Add chopped onion and 1 tbl
  5. Balsamic vinegar and cook slowly over low heat for about 20 minutes til soft and sweet
  6. Remove from heat
  7. In crockpot, put 2 cans green beans
  8. Sprinkle with a little salt and pepper
  9. Sprinkle with half the bacon, broken into small pieces
  10. Sprinkle with half the cooked onions
  11. Sprinkle with half,, dark brown sugar
  12. Drizzle with 1-2 tbl
  13. Bacon / butter grease from pan
  14. Lol
  15. Drizzle with 1 / 2 tbl
  16. Balsamic vinegar
  17. Repeat everything (just draining one can, and add the fourth can of green beans with the water from can pouring over evenly
  18. )
  19. Give all this a very gentle fold, folding only 2-3 times
  20. Any more, and your green beans will begin to break up
  21. Cut up your 2 tbl
  22. Butter into 8 pieces and dot top
  23. Cover and heat over high til hot throughout
  24. About 45 minutes
  25. You can also do this on the stove, or even in the oven in a casserole dish
