Chicago Diner Burger

Vegetarian burger just like the meat burger in the windy city. Its great with red pepper aioli (recipe included).

Vegetarian burger just like the meat burger in the windy city. Its great with red pepper aioli (recipe included).

Ingredients

  • Celery
  • Onion
  • Low Sodium Soy Sauce
  • Onion Powder
  • Garlic Powder
  • Ground Black Pepper
  • Old Fashioned Oats
  • Mushrooms
  • Whole Wheat Flour
  • Vegan Mayonnaise
  • Olive Oil
  • Roasted Red Pepper
  • Garlic Clove

Instructions

  1. Bring 4 cups water, celery, onion, soy sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, and pepper to a boil in a pot over medium heat
  2. Reduce heat to medium and simmer 5 minutes
  3. Stir in oats, mushrooms and flour and cook 5 minutes more
  4. Transfer to a bowl and chill
  5. Preheat oven to 350f
  6. Coat baking sheet with cooking spray
  7. Shape mixture into patties and bake on prepared baking sheet for 15 minutes
  8. Flip and bake 10 more minutes
  9. Cool
  10. Heat grill to medium-high
  11. Place foil on grill and coat with cooking spray
  12. Grill burgers on foil for 7 minutes per side
  13. Serve
  14. Red pepper ailoi:
  15. Puree all ingredients in blender until smooth
  16. Season with salt and pepper
