Eventually, when the restaurant owner retired, he shared the recipe with the customer. A good choice for new year's festivities. I have lightened some of the ingredients, but you may use the original full calorie versions if you prefer.

- Lean Ground Beef
- Onion
- Water
- Black-eyed Peas
- Diced Tomatoes
- Diced Tomatoes With Mild Green Chilies
- Green Chilies
- Beef Bouillon Cubes
- Molasses
- Worcestershire Sauce
- Garlic Salt
- Salt
- Pepper
- Ground Cumin
Instructions
- In a large stockpot, brown sausage and beef with onion until no longer pink
- Drain off fat
- Return meat and onions to the same pot and add all remaining ingredients
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to a simmer, cover, and let simmer for 45 minutes
